D8.1. Initial ELSI governance framework - Executive Summary
GLOMICAVE covers data-intensive research that crosses national borders and deals with a large volume of data. Therefore, a robust legal and ethical framework with respect for social issues is necessary to ensure a long-lasting impact. The following ELSI governance framework has been developed for the GLOMICAVE, detailing ethical and legal aspects such as data to be gathered, standards to be used (regarding AI and Big Data Analytics), personal data protection, means of storage, preservation, license clearing, access rights and policy and a methodology for maximising the re-use of data and samples as well as social aspects like appropriate stakeholder engagement. The KUL will monitor all these aspects to line up technical developments with the framework, which will be dynamic and fine-tuned during the project implementation.
