
ASEAVA is a breeder association recognised by the Spanish Agricultural Ministry which main task is the Asturiana de los Valles beef breed Herd book and Breeding program management
ASEAVA is a non-profit organisation which aims to promote the breed and defend the associated breeder interests through advice, studies, petitions, reports and opinions on the problems inherent to the breeder society competences. The society is organised through 4.207 breeders and 107.818 animals are included in the Herd book. Since 1985, the association is responsible to register phenotypic information on-farm, at the Performance Test Station, and in the Slaughter house and cutting room to be used in the Aseava genetic selection program, being one of the pioneer association in Spain for the systematic measuring of phenotypic data in beef cattle. In the present time, Aseava has registered phenotypic information of approximately 770.000 individuals. ASEAVA’s team includes 22 workers from whom two are veterinarians and 6 are field controllers trained to collect phenotypic data in beef cattle.
Contribution to GLOMICAVE
Within the project, ASEAVA collaborate in the integration and harmonisation of multi-omics data in order to enable access to the data which will be analysed, as well as in the multi-omics data analysis. ASEAVA will also participate in the Genotype – Phenotype unknown relations discovery.
ASEAVA will lead the production of meat quality phenotypes as well as omic data. Finally, ASEAVA will lead Exploitation, Dissemination and Communication activities
