Aalborg University (AAU) is the second largest engineering university in Denmark and ranked as the top engineering university in Europe and among top 5 in the world. There are around 20,000 students at campuses in Aalborg, Copenhagen and Esbjerg.
Center for Microbial Communities, Department of Chemistry and Bioscience is carrying out world-class research on microbial communities in various natural and engineered ecosystems. Focus areas are microbial ecology and physiology of novel uncultured microbes and microbial communities, novel methods and applied bioinformatics, primarily for human health and recovery of resources and energy. The Center possesses state of the art omics and visualization equipment and expertise.
Contribution to GLOMICAVE
The main contribution of Center for Microbial Communities in GLOMICAVE is microbial ecology and physiology of microbes involved in phosphate and nitrogen removal and recovery related to wastewater treatment. The Center maintains the MiDAS database with information about microbes in global water resource recovery facilities.
