The GLOMICAVE project celebrated the workshop “Links between genotypes and phenotypes related to livestock fertility and meat quality”, which took place last 22nd of November, 2022, at the Laboral Ciudad de la Cultura in Gijón (Spain). The event, organised by project partners from SERIDA, ASEAVA and ASINCAR, was the first of a series of national workshops.
The event, which gathered around 40 attendees, focused on the application of omics technologies in the livestock sector, the production of in vitro embryos, the importance of fertility markers for the selection of embryos and recipients and the analytical determination of phenotypes related to meat quality.
Representatives from SERIDA and ASEAVA participated in the workshop and presented the two animal use cases of the GLOMICAVE project. These use cases are focused on livestock and the fertility level of these animals to optimise reproduction technologies efficiency in cattle and on the identification of genetic markers in beef cattle in order to improve beef production and meat quality.
Additionally, project partners from Tree Technology also attended the event and delivered a presentation offering a general overview of the GLOMICAVE platform and its expected outcomes.
On the other hand, the event counted with a great array of external speakers representing companies (AsturBiotech, La Espina veterinary technical center) and universities (Universidad Complutense de Madrid).
